own lives; Appreciating tomorrow's antiques; ideas from students

Investigate the logistics of the 'Mont De Lancey Excursion'. Think about cost, timetable, number of participants.
Brainstorm other ideas. Research excursion destinations. Where would you choose to visit? Investigate the logistics
involved if your grade went there.
Thinking about a future investigation, is there anything you'd like to research as a result of attending this
field trip? Future destination? What would you like to know about this future site? Brainstorm future topics.
Write an 'excursion report' and upload it to the school's intranet.
Email a peer in the other 5/6 class. Write about your day at Mont De Lancey and mention three things you learnt
and three things you saw. Attach a photo. (ICT, English, Humanities).
Imagine you are in the first group of 'migrants to Mars'. There is a basic life-support infrastructure in place,
but no 'comforts'. It takes three years to get there, so even if you don't like it when you arrive and you decide
to come back immediately, you will be away from Earth for at least six years.
- What home comforts, if any, would you take with you?
- How would you make your new home a comfortable, enjoyable place to be?
- Would you miss Earth?
- How would you go about 'looking after a new planet' (sustainability / resources / economy)?
- Develop an aspect of this topic that interests you. Choose a mode of presentation that you think the
class would enjoy. Some ideas: a comic strip, diorama, Powerpoint presentation, a short video, a painting,
a play, short story or picture book, a poem or song...
Plant an acorn from Mont De Lancey's 130 year-old oak tree.
Make mud bricks and build a garden wall...
Make candles and other crafts which link to the past...
Look up the word "Utopia". What sort of society do we want to live in? This is your chance to create a fictional
societal system. Write one chapter a week...
What sort of person do I want to be? Write a letter to your[future]self, outlining goals for personal growth and
short term and long term plans for the future. Seal you letter into a 'Time Capsule', to be opened in 20 or 50 years.

# 18 - CONSTRUCTION OF RECHABITE HALL 1886
For some time the meetings were held at the residences of Messrs T Quayle and H Sebire sen., respectively, and afterwards in the school building. Then, as the members' roll increased rapidly, it was considered desirable that these societies should have a special building of their own. In the year 1886 the present Rechabite Hall was constructed.
