# 12 - POSTAL SERVICES
The first post office in the Wandin district was opened by Mr James Baker at his home in Baker Road on December 5, 1874. Previously settlers in Wandin had used the postal address Lillydale (the original spelling appears on correspondence and documents of that era). In 1893 the post office was transferred to the corner of Beenak and Quayle Roads Wandin Yallock and was conducted by Mr Thomas Quayle and later by his son, Mr Frederick Quayle until 1907 The Wandin Yallock post office situated near the corner of Beenak and Hunter Roads was closed in May 1955 Mrs Dryburgh being the postmistress at that time.
